Gas Utilisation Course (Cat 3)

Thank you for your interest in the Gas Utilisation Course
that Gas Train offer in congunction with Zurich
Certification. As you may be aware, changes
were made in August 2003 to the entrance
requirements for the Accredited Certification
Scheme (ACS).

In order to qualify for entrance to
the ACS assessments, candidates
not already in possession of an ACS
certificate or Corgi registration, need
to complete a relevant NVQ qualification
in Gas or complete the Gas Utilisation Course.
The Gas Utilisation Course meets all requirements for Corgi registration.

The course consists of a 4 week full-time "Off the job" (150hr) course at Gas Train, coving aspects of Gas Saftey like:

On successful completion of the course, the candidates will have to secure a work placement with a CORGI registered engineer. This "On the job" experience will last several months depending on the type of work you are doing during your placement.

Whilst completing "On the job" experience, a member of the Gas Train staff will complete an on-site assessment. The cadidate will be expected to complete a portfolio of evidence whilst on thier placements; Gas Train will assistance.

Once you have completed the "On the job" experience Gas Train will assess your portfolio. This will remain with Gas Train, as it is an auditable document and part of the ACS scheme.

You will have gathered that the above process is aimed at mature people, preferably with some plumbing, building or engineering experience. It is important that you gain access to a CORGI registered engineer.

After your "On the job" experience and a complete portfolio you will be able to take the Gas ACS assessment CCN1 (Core)
